There are bikers who use common sense and common courtesy to do a good job of alerting pedestrians they encounter as they use shared-use paths. These folks are really appreciated. I always greet them and thank them for the audible alert.
Unfortunately, as this time, in my experience over the last three years, less than 20% of the bikers who overtake give audible alerts.
