MULTIPLE TRAILS ARE MAKING PROGRESS AND MOVING FORWARD: At our March 10th Board of County Commissioners meeting, we authorized the purchase of a stretch of approximately 24.3 acres comprising approximately 1.5 miles of the Seminole Gulf Railway Corridor -- Bonita Estero Rail Trail (BERT) -- within Collier County for public trail use using Conservation Collier dollars. The County portion of this acquisition goes from just north of Wiggins Pass Road to almost Old 41 on the Collier County border along the 11.4 mile unused rail corridor through downtown Bonita Springs and Estero ending at Estero Parkway. Once complete, BERT will become part of the Florida Gulf Coast Trail 400+ mile network stretching from Collier County to Tampa.
